Jass Beki Joins Cast of James Graham’s ‘Dear England’ at the National Theatre
Olivier Award-winning play returns to the National Theatre with Jass Beki featured in ensemble cast for the latest production of Dear England
The National Theatre has released new rehearsal images ahead of the much-anticipated return of Dear England, James Graham’s Olivier Award-winning drama exploring Gareth Southgate’s transformation of the England men’s football team. Among the talented ensemble joining this powerful production is rising star Jass Beki, who plays multiple roles throughout the play.
Following its critically acclaimed debut in 2023, Dear England is back in London for a brand-new season, set to evolve alongside the real-life narrative of England’s journey through UEFA EURO 2024. The production will also travel north for a regional premiere at The Lowry in Salford later this spring, broadening its national reach.

Jass Beki joins a stellar ensemble that blends returning favourites and fresh faces. A versatile performer, Beki is part of a dynamic cast portraying key figures in modern English football history, while also contributing to the ensemble’s rich character work. His inclusion in the production highlights the National Theatre’s ongoing commitment to championing emerging UK talent on one of its most prominent stages.

A new era for Dear England
The new cast is led by Gwilym Lee as Gareth Southgate, taking over from Joseph Fiennes. Liz White steps into the role of Pippa Grange, the Football Association’s former Head of People and Team Development. Returning to the cast are Josh Barrow as Jordan Pickford, Gunnar Cauthery as Gary Lineker, Tony Turner as Greg Dyke, John Hodgkinson as Greg Clarke, and Ryan Whittle—this time as Harry Kane.
New cast members bringing fresh energy to the stage include Matt Bardock (Mike Webster), Jude Carmichael (Marcus Rashford), Gamba Cole (Raheem Sterling), Ryan Donaldson (Harry Maguire), Felixe Forde (Alex Scott), Kadell Herida (Jadon Sancho), Joshua Hill (Jordan Henderson), Tom Lane (Eric Dier), Martin Marquez (Sam Allardyce), Tane Siah (Bukayo Saka), and Tristan Waterson (Dele Alli).
Rounding out the ensemble with Jass Beki are Courtney George, Will Harrison-Wallace, Miles Henderson, Jordan Ford Silver, Philip Labey, and Ellouise Shakespeare-Hart. The cast take on multiple roles, contributing to the layered and fast-paced storytelling style that made Dear England such a theatrical standout.

Unlike the original 2023 run, the updated production of Dear England will continue to evolve, with the National Theatre confirming that it will include developments from this summer’s UEFA EURO 2024.
