The JAM Academy
This course is open to actors under the age of 18 only.
Sat 07 and Sun 08 June 2025 at at Old Diorama Arts Centre.
Welcome to our two-day intensive acting for stage and screen course.
Led by seasoned casting professionals across the two days:
Saffeya started out as a film publicist before making the move into casting in 2021, after graduating from the National Film & Television School’s Casting Certificate. She joined The Old Vic as their in-house Casting Assistant, before progressing to Casting Coordinator earlier this year, and supports freelance casting directors across productions, as well as often leading or assisting on casting for workshops, readings and monologue series’. Recent productions she has worked on for The Old Vic include Jack Thorne’s A Christmas Carol (directed by Matthew Warchus), Caryl Churchill’s A Number (directed by Lyndsey Turner), Mike Bartlett’s The 47th (directed by Rupert Goold), August Wilson’s Jitney (directed by Tinuke Craig), Jonathan Spector’s Eureka Day (directed by Katy Rudd), and Kate Prince’s Sylvia.
Jonny has been working in casting for 12 years. He began by working in Regional and West End Theatre and then, after three years, moved into TV and Film.
Throughout his years as an associate and assistant, Jonny has been privileged to work and learn from some of the most prolific Casting Directors in the UK. He has spent the last seven years working with Shaheen Baig on a wide range of TV series including; THE VIRTUES, THREE GIRLS, THE GALLOWS POLE, I AM series and GET MILLIE BLACK. Also Independent Films, such as; SCRAPPER, PIRATES, THE NEST, SUPERNOVA and RARE BEASTS.
Jonny has most recently been Co-Casting with Shaheen on the Television series of HANNA (Amazon Prime) and BOILING POINT (BBC).
From August 2023 Jonny has started his own Casting office, Jonny Boutwood Casting.

3:20-4pm - Q&A with all actors

Actors will film both their scenes with our professional videographer and directed by Jonny. These will then be sent to the actors within 2/3 working days.
1:30-2:15pm
Q&A with an Agent, TBC.
2:30-3:15pm
Q&A with a Casting Director, Harry Gilbert.

Parents and guardians are invited to join for the Q&A sessions on both the Saturday and Sunday.

This workshop takes place at: Old Diorama Arts Centre, Regent's Place, 201 Drummond Street, Triton Square, London NW1 3FE. The studio is 5 minute walk away from Great Portland Street, Warren Street, London Euston or Euston Square.
We kindly ask that the performers parent / guardians arrive for drop off / pick up at least 15 minutes before the start / end of scheduled sessions.
We reserve the right to change the academy hosts as per our Terms & Conditions.
